I won something! I never win anything. (Well, ok, I actually won the lottery on Christmas. By which I mean: I thought it would be funny to buy some lotto tickets as stocking stuffers and on one of the scratch-off cards I won $28. I. Am. Awesome.) More importantly, I won a beautiful necklace made by one of my favorite bloggers!
Rebecca of Life, Love & Baby is not only a wonderful writer, but a talented jewelry maker as well. (She has an etsy shop here: JewelryBag) She did a giveaway of one of her necklaces and I actually won it. I absolutely love it.
And while we’re on the subject of pimping out fellow bloggers, allow me to introduce my friend Carolyn of Carolyn Drohner (insert clever photography nickname here). She’s an amazing photographer. Many of her pictures are of her beautiful little girl Vivian, which I’m sure helps!
Can I just say: I’m really jealous of these ladies. They’re both managing to do something they love and even make a little money off of it. Allow me to just sit here in my corner and write and wish that there was a viable marketplace for writers. (I just found out that one of the bloggers that I love and that I think of as an incredibly successful blogger only makes about $5000/year. This is me weeping.)
But, while I’m definitely jealous of these women, I’m also inspired by them. I love seeing that other people are pursuing their passions – it gives me hope to keep writing. And that, of course, goes for all of my fellow bloggers. Every time I read a post by one of my favorite women, it gives me a little more courage to put myself out there. So here’s a big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who follows their dreams and, especially, puts pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard, which is just much less poetic). Thank you!

Sara, that necklace was made for you! I am so glad you won it since it is so obviously perfect for you.
I do give kudos to anyone out there pursuing their dreams and making the sacrafices to make those dreams a reality. Like you, if I had to choose, I would give almost anything to write (whatever I wanted of course) and get paid for it! Here’s to plugging away at our dreams. Cheers!
Thank you again! I haven’t bought much new jewelry since having Adeline (since she inevitably tries to pull it off or put it in her mouth) so this is especially nice for me right now. And she’s finally growing out of the grab everything stage, so I think I can start wearing it more often.
It helps so much to know that other people are out there writing, too. I’ll keep at it if you will
Even if none of us ever gets paid, the responses and inspiration from other people makes it all worth it! All the best
Sara, your post brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for bringing something to my attention. I never really thought about it, that I was living my dream. I guess I always assumed, dreams are just dreams, and that you can’t ever really live them. But in a way I am. I may not be the richest person on earth, and never will be. But I have carved happiness out of my own little dreary life and I am determined to make it work.
I have never really felt like I have inspired someone. Thank you so much for lifting me up and making me feel great today. I have been in a rut. I have been pushing myself lately because I feel like my fate is in my own hands! So thank YOU for inspiring ME to do better every day.
