OK people, I have a few administrative type things that I’d love to get your thoughts on. So please, share any opinions, thoughts, random monologues, whatever, in the comments to this post.
1. What do you want to be called? I mean, I can keep calling you “people” (or “you guys” or just “you”), but you deserve more. You’re my readers, I care about you, you matter! And having a nickname for you guys (see? not cool) helps create a sense of community, which I’d really love to develop here. The Momastery calls her readers Monkeys, Naked Mommy Diaries calls her readers Nudists, and I Want a Dumpster Baby calls her readers Divers. All make sense. But what nickname flows naturally from the name of this blog? I just don’t know. So give me your ideas. Tell me what you want. I bow to you, oh Exhilarationists. (Exhilarationists? Too long.)
2. Like my Facebook page! It’s more than just updates on the blog. Much more! I share funny pictures, inspiring quotes and interesting articles over there. Not to mention, we have two additional moderators, the lovely Lindsey and Melek, who bring a whole new perspective and outlook to the page! So get over there and Like us and join in the conversation. (See, I’m really all about this whole “community” thing.)
3. Two blogs in one? So Elephants (Elephants? No.), I actually have two blogs. This one and Diary of a Book Lover. But this blog has really become my baby (pardon the pun) and I haven’t been devoting much time to Diary of a Book Lover. So I’m considering just bringing it over here. It would mean a book review every couple weeks and a weekly (ish) mindfulness exercise. The book reviews wouldn’t generally be about parenting books (I’m currently reading through the Pulitzers, for example) but they would be interesting (at least I think so). And I have gotten positive responses to the mindfulness exercises I’ve shared here. So tell me: yes? no? maybe?
4. New theme? I’m thinking about getting a new theme. Partly because it just feels like it might be time for a change. But also because I used to have the little hearts disabled and now for some reason that’s no longer an option. I’m not really a fan of hearts. Not really at all. So, new theme? Any ideas? What kind of look do you like?
Of course, I reserve the right to make all decisions myself, but I really do value your input and I’d love to hear from you. So speak up, Cats! (Cats? I do like cats…)
Combining blogs is fine with me. I am a big believer in ignoring the blog rules about keeping the blogs limited to one topic. I get the reasons why it is suggested, but I don’t do it and I’m okay with others who don’t. New themes are good, if easy to read. Considering one myself.
Awesome – thanks for the feedback! And yeah, I agree, it never bothers me when a blog I read talks about more than one subject. Hello, life is complicated!
Just don’t call us “readers” I don’t know why but to me it comes across as patronizing.
Yes for the 2 blogs in one.
And I never noticed the hearts before. But I think you can play around for a while until you find something you like OR you can hire someone to do your site. But there are some very cute templates out there. I really like your header right now though.
(I liked your page too)
Thanks for the comments Ellen
I hear you about readers. So then I end up saying “people” which doesn’t sound great, either. Sigh.
Thanks for liking the facebook page!
Hmm.. I don’t mind “readers”, but in the end like you said, it’s up to you. Just don’t call us any Gaga-ish names like “little monsters” lol!
And yes to combining your blogs into one. I had thought a while back about having 2 separate blogs also (personal and photography), but then I just kept everything in one (notice my twitter updates and flickr updates in my main blog). To me, it just seemed easier to access everything from one place.
And don’t know if it’s your style (thought from this theme you might like it), there’s a website called http://thecutestblogontheblock.com. They have sute (of course!) themes there!

Hmmm….who was it that used to call people her “gentle readers”? Miss Manners? Anyway – how about an acronym, like “MOEs”? A little too Three Stooges? I’ll go back to the drawing board and report back.
Definitely feel free to absorb your other blog here. Right or wrong, I blog on so many different things on mine that you’re as likely to get a book review as you are a report on our dog’s eating habits – ha ha.
Yes, I do believe that Adeline would like a theme more in keeping with her mature status as a preschooler now — ask her.
Thanks for all the comments! I have a new theme and I love it! And I imported all the posts from my other blog and will post exclusively here from now on. I’m excited about the changes
(Still looking for a nickname for you awesome people…)
