Here we go: I turn 30 in a little over 6 months. Eek! I’m celebrating the end of the third decade of my life by setting 30 goals and aiming to accomplish them by the time I turn 30*. It’s my 30 Before 30 list!
Some are small things, some are bigger things, all are things I want to do and think I realistically can do in six months and with a small child. I’m also working on a more traditional “bucket list” of things I want to do before I die. That list will be a bit more aggressive.
So, without further ado, the list:
- Fund 30 Kiva loans (In progress – Join my team!)
- Submit something to be published (Done!)
- Do 30 Days of Truth
- Learn Photoshop
- Get a new tattoo
- Write a novel (or participate in NaNoWriMo)
- Finish Project 52
- Get something published
- Go somewhere I’ve never been before
- Climb a 14K (I’ve already done this and higher, but it’s been almost four years since I’ve done any real climbing – too long!)
- Forgive someone
- Find my go-to Karaoke song
- Master one yoga pose
- Do a juice cleanse
- Go to an opera (Obviously I’ve been before, but not in a damn long time.)
- Master a difficult song on the piano
- Find a good place to volunteer and start volunteering
- Start composting
- Print photo albums
- Learn how to use camera in manual mode (almost there)
- Do something that terrifies me (Exactly what is still TBD.)
- Write a business plan
- Do something fun for my 30th birthday
- Audit a science class
- Take a hot air balloon ride
- Paint a picture
- Watch the Godfather movies
- Purchase a very expensive, staple item of clothing/accessory (Chanel?)
- Get a facial
- Forgive myself
So let’s hear it: what’s on your list?!
* I’m giving myself until the end of 2012 for some of these, for example, NaNoWriMo is in November and Project 52 will go until the end of the year.
I love “bucket” lists lol I have a 5 year one that expires when i’m 27! Best of luck to you! Enjoy your birthday, accomplishing this list will definitely be a great present to yourself.
Well I sure missed the “30 by 30″ so I will have to do that in a few years for my “40 by 40″ does it work that way too? And you’ll get published, no doubt about that one!
You can definitely do a 40 before 40! I’d love to see your list
This is a seriously aggressive list but if anyone can tackle it I think it’s you! These are all great but it’s #28 that is drawing me to comment. Even pre-kids I seldom splurged on myself but I vowed to buy myself something amazing for my 30th birthday.
I invested in a gorgeous eggplant/dark denim colored Balenciaga purse. It was neutral enough to wear with anything, bold enough to make a statement, functional enough to use every day and fancy enough to use for special occasions. You can tell by my gushing that I love that bag. I have never for a minute regretted the $$ purchase and it is a constant reminder that I need to invest in me too! Go for it!
That sounds awesome. I’ve definitely heard that people do not regret spending money on something really nice. I often just buy cheap clothes/accessories that I use for a couple years and then give away. And that’s fine for every day stuff. But I really do think it’s worth it to spend the money on something that’s high quality and that you’ll use forever. I can’t wait to pick something out
Holy crap! That’s a lot to do in 6 months! Well…you can always exercise #30 if you don’t get them all done. So apparently we’re very close in age. I turn 30 in October. This kind of makes me want to make a list. But the truth is I don’t have too many goals I feel I need to accomplish by then. I’ll probably just continue being lazy…and try to figure out how to take care of a baby.
