Snow/Sun. Cold/Hot. Winter Coat/Short Sleeves. Boots/Sandals. The weather here is a bit… fickle.
On Tuesday it snowed all day and it was, for Denver, a bit cold. (I say “for Denver” because even when it’s cold here, it’s not really. Going back to Chicago and Wisconsin in March reminded me of the bitter cold there. Even when it’s 30 degrees here, you often leave your jacket unzipped and you hardly ever put gloves on.)
So anyways, Tuesday. We played out in the alley, as we often do. Adeline isn’t really a fan of the cloudy, cold, snowy days. But she got a little happier when she discovered the puddles. Splash splash!
And then we woke up yesterday to a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the snow had melted, and, oh hell, I’ll just say it, the birds were singing! Adeline may not like the snow, but girl LOVES a chance to run around outside when it’s warm and sunny. I didn’t get as many “sunny” pictures because we were just having too much fun.
We’ve only been here a little over a year, so we’re still getting used to the weather. But I gather this is a pretty common occurrence. I guess a cold, snowy day isn’t that bad when it’s followed immediately by a beautiful, warm day. And as for the sunny days – I love them!

Ugh, those pictures are gorgeous. I don’t think I am supposed to say ‘ugh’ before giving a compliment. So let me try that again.
Those pictures are gorgeous!
And I wish I knew anything about a camera. What are you using (humor me even though I won’t have any idea). At the very least I assume I should get an iphone.
Haha, thanks
I use a Nikon D5000. I have an 18-55 lens and lately I’ve been using a 55-200 lens (what these pics were shot on). I’m slowly learning the manual settings, although this was shot on the “children” setting. Learning how to use my camera is on my list!
Having lived in Denver for more than 30 years, I have found that there’s usually one spring storm that somehow, after being unpleasant, turns everything green and blooming. That said, I still don’t put my plants outside for summer until Mother’s Day! I’m glad you and Adeline live here and I hope you come to love it as I have. Having visited Chicago, I find the city fascinating and the weather….daunting!
I know! It did seem to make everything greener! And yes… the weather in Chicago is definitely daunting.
If you visited Chicago and Wisconsin you drove by me. Did you wave?
It was actually two different trips (yes, I flew from Denver to the midwest with a toddler twice in three weeks). But I do remember you’re in the area
Same thing happened here in Albuquerque a few days ago. It rained and snowed, and the next day it was sunny!
I didn’t know it ever snowed in Albuquerque! Crazy!
